What exactly does "1st generation" mean?
When looking at Hybrids such as the Maltipoo, you may notice the term "1st generation" or "2nd generation" comes up a lot.
1st generation simply means that the puppy's parents are both purebreds. For example, a 1st generation Maltipoo has a
purebred Maltese and a purebred Poodle as its parents. 2nd generation is produced when a 1st generation Maltipoo is bred
to another 1st generation Maltipoo. These generations can keep going and going but you have to breed true. Breeding a
1st generation Maltipoo to a purebred Maltese is not a 2nd generation Maltipoo. We only raise 1st generation Maltipoos.
Are your Malt-a-poos registered?
Our Malt-a-poos are registered with the ACHC. **Please Note** Malt-a-poos are not a pure breed, they are a cross
between two pure breeds and are not recognized by many dog clubs. The same is true of the Cockapoo or the
Labradoddle. The AKC does not recognize any crossbreeds. The clubs that do recognize the Malt-a-poo, register them as
miscellaneous. Please do not let a breeder tell you that you are buying a pure breed Malt-a-poo, there is no such thing. The
parents of the puppies should be registered dogs with a pure breed registry. The parents of our Malt-a-poos are a pure
breed and are registered with the AKC and the UKC. Below is a list of registries that do recognize the
Malt-a-poo. (As a hybrid)
CKC (Continental Kennel Club) (Spelling) Malt-a-poo
DRA (Dog Registry of America) (Spelling) Maltipoo
ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club) (Spelling) Malt-a-poo
NAMCR (North American Maltepoo Club and Registry) (Spelling) Maltipoo/Maltepoo/Malt-a-poo
Are you are broker?
We are not brokers. All of the puppies we sell come from our dogs, which we consider family, Stella the Poodle and Chico
the Maltese.
What is a Broker?
A "Broker" is anyone who did not breed the dogs themselves, but purchased the puppy from a breeder to resell it and make
a profit. Some Brokers have been known to purchase puppies from puppy mills. There are a many “broker” websites out
there and they may be disguised so be careful. One telltale sign of a broker site is one that says they are a "network of
breeders" or they state that parent dogs are not available for viewing. Always ask to see a picture of the puppy's parents
before buying. If pictures cannot be provided that is a warning sign. Brokers are not necessarily bad but they may have little
to no knowledge of the puppy’s parents. They also have no knowledge of the environment in which the puppies are raised.
Some brokers obtain their puppies from puppy mills where the dogs are kept in small wire cages for their entire lives. Broker’
s may only enjoy selling the puppies but do not genuinely care about the puppies.
Where are the puppies raised?
Our puppies are house dogs. We do not keep our dogs in kennels outside. Maltese and Poodles should be house dogs.
Maltipoos are no different. Our puppies are cared for in the home until they are ready to leave with their new owners. If you
are not interested in a house dog or would rather have an outside dog then a Maltipoo is not for you.
Are Maltipoos OK for people with allergies?
The Maltipoos are considered non-shedding and hypoallergenic. Maltipoos are said to be good for allergy suffers. However,
this does not mean that the dog will not cause a person to have a reaction. Each person is different in how much dog
dander they can tolerate. I would recommend testing the allergic family member around other Poodle, Maltese, or Maltipoos
before purchasing. Keeping a clean pet area does help with dog dander, along with air purifiers and a good vacuum cleaner
with an air filter. Purchasing a puppy is not a decision to be taken lightly, it is a lot of work but well worth it!
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit cards through Pay-Pal, money orders or cash.
